Job Description

Epiphany is hiring a Development and Operations Director who will spearhead the magazine's fundraising efforts as well as oversee day-to-day operations of the organization. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and organizational know-how, as well as some experience in grant writing or development. Though not required, please note graphic design and/or web design experience when applying. *Please note: this is not an editorial role. 


Logistical Responsibilities

- Oversee subscriptions, plus printing, distribution and storage of issues


Fiscal Responsibilities

- Create and oversee Epiphany's organizational budget


HR responsibilities

- Hire and manage magazine interns

- Oversee logistical matters with magazine contributors 


Publication Management Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief to create and maintain annual calendar, including events, campaigns, and issue cycles

- Maintain and update Epiphany's website [platform: Sqaurespace] (collaborate w/ Editor-in-Chief) 


Communications/Marketing Responsibilities

- Manage advertising: create ads [platforms: social media, Google AdWords, print ads] and sell ad space in print issues and Epiphany's newsletter (collaborate w/ Editor-in-Chief) 

- Strategize and implement ways to grow the magazine, via sales, visibility, public interest, submitter interest, etc. (collaborate w/ Editor-in-Chief) 

- Manage public-facing communication via the Epiphany newsletter (collaborate w/ Editor-in-Chief) 


Community Outreach Responsibilities

- Organize issue launch events 

- Organize other events and fairs (i.e. Lit Crawl, AWP, Brooklyn Book Festival, NYC Poetry Festival, etc.)


Development Responsibilities

- Plan Epiphany’s annual benefit Fête (collaborate w/ Editor-in-Chief and Epiphany board of directors) 

- Oversee Epiphany’s annual year-end fundraiser (collaborate w/ Editor-in-Chief and Epiphany board of directors)

- Research and write grants (i.e. NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs Cultural Development Fund, NYSCA, Amazon Literary Partnership, Whiting Foundation Literary Magazine Grant)
